Lunches

School Lunches

Our school follows a healthy eating policy and lunches are cooked freshly each day in our school kitchen.  The meals are prepared using:

  • fresh meat and poultry sourced from the region;
  • fruit and vegetables sourced regionally where possible using local suppliers;
  • products free from additives associated with health problems in young children;
  • fats free from hydrogenated oils; with
  • menus that are nutritionally balanced.

Main meals are served with a choice of fresh vegetables or salad with potatoes or bread.  There is also the choice of jacket potatoes served with salad and sandwiches served with salad or jacket potatoes.

All pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are able to receive a free school lunch.

For pupils in Years 3 to 6, £3.45 per day.  From September 2024, North Yorkshire Council are increasing the price per meal to £3.62.

Nursery meals £2.10 per day.  Nursery children who stay in school beyond 12.30pm will be charged an additional £2.00 per day for lunchtime supervision.

Should you prefer, you may send your child with a healthy packed lunch which must be in a clearly named container.  Please do not send a flavoured drink with the packed lunch as all children are given water to drink at lunch time.

In order to help with the administration and ordering, parents must inform School in writing, giving two full weeks’ notice, if a child is to change their lunchtime arrangements.

Free School Meals

Are your children missing out on Free School Meals?

Free school meals are available to all Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils and to children whose parents receive certain benefits. The government have extended free school meal eligibility to children in all households who have no recourse to public funds, subject to maximum income thresholds.

Visit the North Yorkshire Council website for more information.
